More Filipinos living in the provinces will soon have increased access to Internet TV and mobile payment services after PLDT and its mobile unit Smart strengthened its partnership with the Philippine Association of Private Telecommunications Companies (Paptelco).
The stronger relationship will allow PLDT and Smart to offer new products and services to local telecommunications companies, PLDT said in a statement.
As a result, Filipinos in the regions will increasingly experience the emerging digital lifestyle through iflix, Wi-Fi Access Point, and PayMaya Resellership.
“PLDT’s strong partnership with Paptelco has made it possible to offer these products and services that will benefit not only residential subscribers but also help businesses and organizations in regional areas,” said PLDT head of international and carrier business and PLDT Global president Katrina Luna-Abelarde.
“PLDT’s Wifi Access Point, for instance, will enable our Paptelco partners to offer Wi-Fi access to businesses and offices, providing reliable connectivity to Local Government Units (LGUs), schools, hotels, resorts, and transport terminals, among others,” Abelarde pointed out.
iflix, one of PLDT’s global entertainment partners, will also be available to Paptelco subscribers. It features over 20,000 hours of movies and TV series including local and Asian content that can be watched simultaneously in up to five devices (e.g. desktops, laptops, smartphones) and stream up to two users simultaneously.
The partnership also introduced the PayMaya-Paptelco card which can be used by Paptelco customers as a debit card. With the service, Paptelco can become the biller or a reloader of the mobile wallet similar to Smart Money, as well as a bills payment center.
PayMaya, a prepaid online payment app that enables people without a credit card to pay online, is a subsidiary of Voyager Innovations, the digital innovations company of the PLDT Group.
