Microsoft appoints Pinoy tech exec as new PH office chief

Software colossus Microsoft has named Filipino IT executive Hans Bayaborda as the new managing director for its Philippine subsidiary, taking over from Frenchman Bertrand Launay, who served in the interim.

Bayaborda joins Microsoft from Hewlett Packard Enterprise, where he served as country general manager for the Philippines.

An industry veteran for more than 20 years, Bayaborda has extensive experience in the telecommunications and IT industries, and has served in leadership positions in various large organizations, including Oracle, Emerson, Bayan Telecommunications, Globe Telecom, and Smart Communications.

An alumnus of the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Bayaborda was also a member of the school’s basketball varsity team from 1988 to 1992.
