Review | Transcend StoreJet 25C3N external hard drive

Taiwanese storage device manufacturer Transcend rolls out the StoreJet 25C3N ? a portable external hard drive that the company claims as a “fashion statement.”

Unboxing and Design

The StoreJet 25C3N wears an aluminum alloy casing that brings the luxurious appearance and light weight at the same time. Transcend coated this external hard drive with a sandblasted material, which works as protection from smudges. However, the shiny edges could feel a little sharp sometimes when your hands become sweaty.

Measuring just 9.95mm in thickness, the 2.5-inch 25C3N promises to take minimal space from your baggage.

A USB 3.0 data cable, quick start guide, and a warranty card for Transcend’s 3-year safety written promise are all included in this bundle, too.

The Transcend 25C3N comes in 1TB and 2TB variations (we got the former for this write-up). It has a ticket to Transcend’s Elite data management software, which helps users to backup, encrypt, restore, and manage the external drive.

We placed the 25C3N under our microscope using the following specs:

  • Intel Core i7-7700 @ 3.60 GHz processor
  • Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card
  • 16GB DDR4 RAM
  • 128GB solid-state drive + 1TB hard disk drive

Below are the scores coming from three different benchmarking software. Since we are reviewing a mass storage drive, the sequential reading and writing speeds matter more.

ATTO Storejet

CrystalDisk Storejet

Priced at P3,750 (1TB version), the Transcend 25C3N external hard drive is definitely a good buy for its portability, looks, and its capacious storage memory. However, we wish that this edition has color options so it could live up to the “fashion statement” tagline of this hard drive model.

The Good:

  • Sleek look
  • Light weight
  • Thin measurement

The Bad:

  • Sharp edges
  • No color options
