Viral | China’s ‘flying wedding veils’ amuses the world

When it comes to weddings, many couples often want to include unique touches that would set them apart from everyone else who’s getting married. This desire to be unique has spawned a thriving industry of wedding suppliers, who, of course, continuously introduce innovations that will fascinate their target clients.

Lifestyle website Shanghaiist recently shared a video of the flying veils wedding craze and, as of April 9, it has gotten over 12 million views.

While it’s obvious that the veils are made to “fly” by a system of rails and wires, this doesn’t seem to be an issue with the brides. Perhaps, it’s their own exuberance that makes this wedding craze seem magical.

It remains to be seen if this practice will go beyond the social media buzz and catch on with the rest of the world. If it does, then wedding suppliers will be thanking the heavens for yet another over-the-top innovation in the quest to make one’s wedding stand out. Then again, some people say that the flying veils freak them out because it reminds them of something ghostly.

If you ask us, though, the only way for weddings to truly stand out is if the marriage lasts until death. Then again, a flying veil can’t guarantee that.
