Taiwan Excellence sees growth in PH’s ICT sector, seeks collabs

Taiwan Excellence — the organization which presents the annual Taiwan Excellence Awards — showcased the latest Internet of Things (IoT) solutions at the Asia IoT Business Platform from July 24 to 25 at the Manila Mariott Hotel.

The event was organized by the Taiwan-based Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) under its Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).

The participating companies included Accton Technology Corporation (networking, cloud systems and communication solutions); Apacer Technology Inc. (data storage, industrial SSDs, and other memory modules); AVer Information (education and communication innovator); ICP DAS (industrial automation and energy management); and IEI Integration (network appliances and security systems).

Since its inception in 1993, Taiwan Excellence has recognized outstanding Taiwan-made products in terms of R&D, design, quality, and marketing.

Taiwan hopes to adapt their ICT applications and domain knowledge to the entrepreneurial culture of the Philippine SMEs. It aims to develop a global center of tech entrepreneurship. In line with this, it seeks to manage partnerships with neighboring countries and businesses in the region.

“We are all very happy to be here with the Taiwanese companies as they share solutions and help transform ideas into future innovations. They provide strong support for the Philippines government and private sectors to develop the country and improve urban living conditions in the Philippines,” said Wen-Chung Chang, director of the Economic Division in the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines.

He added, “We see progress in the Philippines’ ICT sector and Taiwan will be happy to contribute to this growth and help Filipino enterprises further succeed in their operations.”

Taiwan Excellence will be in at least two more upcoming events in the country: the Taiwan Excellence eSports Cup in October and the Taiwan Expo Cub in Davao City in November.
