Google names veteran IT exec as new PH country chief

Tech titan Google has announced the appointment of seasoned IT executive Bernadette Nacario as the new country director for the Philippines.

New Google Philippines country director Bernadette Nacario

She replaced Kenneth Lingan, the first country director of Google for the Philippines who is now the chief executive officer of the local operations of French advertising giant Publicis Groupe.

Prior to joining Google, Nacario served as the country manager for systems at IBM Philippines, and Apple Philippines and Guam.

Nacario has extensive background in general management, sales, marketing, and channel management, and has held various leadership positions for tech brands such as HP, Microsoft, and Siemens.

As the new country director for Google Philippines, Nacario will manage the company’s day-to-day operations and develop an overall growth strategy for the business.

She will work closely with the sales leadership team in setting objectives and priorities that will guide the organization. She will also play a vital role in maintaining Google’s culture within teams.

“It is an exciting time to join Google. According to the e-Conomy SEA Report 2019, the country’s Internet economy is growing by between 20% and 30% annually, and it will continue to accelerate. We are at the sweet spot of demographic, economic, and digital inflection. And together with the diverse and talented teams at Google, I’m thrilled to lead the company to help unlock this potential and make the benefits of the digital economy felt by more Filipinos,” said Nacario.

She will report directly to Stephanie Davis, managing director for Google Southeast Asia.

“Dette brings with her incredible experience in leading teams across partnerships, sales, and brand marketing, and has always placed her teams and clients at the center of it all. Under her leadership, Google will be in a stronger position to forge strategic partnerships and drive inclusive growth for the Philippines. We are fortunate to have her onboard,” said Davis.

Nacario holds a Graduate Diploma in Management from the Helsinki School of Economics (Executive Education). She is a graduate of Polytechnic University of the Philippines with a degree in Accountancy.
