The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has announced the introduction of Soundbox, the first audio-based payment confirmation device in the Philippine banking industry.
The breakthrough innovation provides real-time audio confirmation for payments made through BPI OneQR, enabling business owners to further streamline payment process and improve overall customer experience.
Traditionally, QR code payments require merchants to confirm transactions with customers via SMS notifications. Soundbox improves this process by delivering instant voice alerts for successful payments.
The clear and distinct sound ensures that both the merchant and the customer receive immediate confirmation for the successful transaction, offering both merchants and customers a faster payment experience.
“Soundbox brings QR payments to a higher level, providing an innovative way to confirm payment instantly when using BPI OneQR,” said Rally Jereza, head of BPI Agency Banking.
The audible alerts allow the sellers to speed up the payment process and cater to faster checkouts, enabling merchants to process more transactions, especially in high-traffic environments.
The compact design and voice confirmation features also make Soundbox devices ideal for a range of businesses – from small street vendors to large retail chains – providing a consistent customer experience.
BPI said it plans to expand the deployment of Soundbox to high-traffic sectors such as food and retail, addressing the needs of businesses that experience high customer volume and long queues.
