AI-powered app for balanced eating habits wins top prize in PH hackathon

Sustancia, an AI-powered app that fosters balanced eating habits and provides city-wide nutrition insights, won the grand prize in a hackathon held recently at the Google Philippines office in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.

Team Null, which developed the Sustancia app, pocketed P50,000 after the “FlutterFlow HackFest: Impact Challenge” hosted by FlutterFlow Developer Group (FFDG) Manila.

Team Flux took second place and a P30,000 prize with Inspectrum, an innovative app utilizing eye gaze tracking technology to aid in the early detection of ADHD and ASD.

Team Neosolve earned the P20,000 third-place prize for Procrash, a gamified productivity app that transforms habit-building into an engaging adventure.

Thirteen teams participated in the event, creating apps aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on health, education, and sustainable communities.

The event benefited from mentorship and guidance from industry experts, and the innovative apps tackled real-world problems with solutions like waste management, accessibility, and mental health support.

Over a 24-hour hackathon, 13 teams crafted applications with the power to drive social impact and advance sustainable development.

Jan Michael Jaudian, Google’s head of customer engineering for the Philippines and Vietnam, said technology can serve as both a catalyst and toolkit for solving real-world problems.
