The Pasig City Regional Trial Court has convicted a 31-year-old woman known by the alias “Ritchel” for attempted estafa committed through online fraud, the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) announced.
In an order dated Nov. 17, 2025, the court found her guilty of violating Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code, in relation to Section 6 of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 (RA 10175). She was sentenced to 30 days of imprisonment, equivalent to arresto menor.
“Ritchel” was arrested on Sept. 7, 2025, in an entrapment operation launched by the Manila District Anti-Cybercrime Team (MDACT) after she allegedly used fake receipts to carry out fraudulent online transactions.
Police Brigadier General Wilson C. Asueta, acting director of the PNP-ACG, welcomed the ruling, saying it strengthens efforts against digital fraud.
“Convictions like this reaffirm that online deception has real consequences,” Asueta said. “The PNP ACG remains steadfast in pursuing fraudsters who exploit digital platforms for personal gain. We urge the public to exercise caution and immediately report suspicious online transactions.”
