Data center operator Equinix is committing another $50 million to its corporate foundation, doubling its total investment since 2022 as the organization expands digital inclusion and technology workforce programs, including an initiative for underserved students in the Philippines.
In the Philippines, the Equinix Foundation is working with Kadakareer, a community-based platform that provides Filipino students with coaching, skills training and pathways to employment in the digital economy.
The collaboration is intended to give students practical experience needed to pursue jobs in the technology industry.
The Philippine initiative is part of the foundation’s broader push to address digital access, skills development and workforce readiness, particularly for technical careers related to the data center industry.
Equinix said the additional $50 million would bring its total commitment to the foundation to $100 million four years after it was established.
“For nearly 30 years, Equinix has grown by earning the trust of the communities where we operate. The Equinix Foundation is a powerful expression of our values in action, giving more people the skills and opportunities they need for the jobs of the future,” said Adaire Fox-Martin, CEO and president of Equinix and a member of the foundation’s board.
“By doubling our investment in programs around the world, we aim to open doors for more people and ensure our communities benefit from the future we are helping to build,” she added.
The foundation said its nonprofit partners connected more than 3.5 million people to the internet in 2025 and provided digital literacy and skills training to more than 1.6 million people. More than 900 people were also trained for digital infrastructure roles.
Equinix is also using the foundation to develop a talent pipeline for the data center industry. Its Pathways to Tech program introduces students aged 14 to 18 to data center operations through school visits, facility tours and education programs. The initiative has reached more than 1,300 students in 24 locations worldwide.
The foundation has partnered with the International Youth Foundation to develop a model for expanding the program into additional markets. The announcement, however, did not say whether Pathways to Tech would be rolled out in the Philippines.
“Every young person deserves the chance to see a future for themselves in the industries shaping our world, and data infrastructure is one of the fastest-growing out there,” said Christina Sass, president and CEO of the International Youth Foundation.
“Pathways to Tech is already opening that door for hundreds of students. We’re excited to bring our experience in youth workforce development to help Equinix build a model that can open it for thousands more, in communities around the world.”
The Equinix Foundation has awarded grants to 100 nonprofit partners across 48 metropolitan areas since its launch. Aside from digital skills and workforce programs, it funds projects aimed at expanding internet connectivity in underserved communities.
