Emirates has introduced an electrically adjustable premium economy seat equipped with a full-height privacy screen, wireless charging, and a 4K entertainment display on its newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft.
The airline described the product as the world’s first fully electric premium economy seat with a full-height adjustable divider between every seat.
Passengers can raise, lower and lock the privacy screen using built-in controls. An integrated passenger control unit also provides preset seating positions, including “lounge mode” and “meal mode.”
The seats are installed in the A350’s 28-seat premium economy cabin, which uses a 2-3-2 configuration. Each seat is 20 inches wide, while seat pitch reaches up to 39 inches.
The cradle-style recline mechanism is designed to prevent the seat from intruding into the space of passengers in the row behind.
Other features include a Safran Seats U-Dream headrest with adjustable wings and a manually deployed leather footrest.
Emirates is also adding wireless charging to its premium economy cabin for the first time. Each seat includes a USB-C charging port, while the tray table has an integrated phone holder that allows passengers to use their devices as a second screen.
Inflight entertainment is delivered through a 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreen running Emirates’ ice entertainment system. The newly delivered A350s also add left- and right-facing exterior camera views to the existing forward and downward cameras.
The upgraded cabin retains Emirates’ premium economy meal service and long-haul amenity kits. The reusable kits are made partly from bio-based materials, including cactus leather alternatives, and contain Aveda skincare products and travel essentials.
Emirates launched its premium economy service in 2022 and has since expanded it to markets served by its A350 fleet.
