Smart subscribers get Claude, Gemini, OpenAI with P49 AI service

Smart Communications and Amihan Global Strategies have launched AI.Smart, a multi-model artificial intelligence service that allows Smart and TNT subscribers to pay for AI access using their prepaid load or postpaid account instead of a credit card.

Starting at P49 for seven days, AI.Smart combines several AI models with tools for documents, spreadsheets, presentations, image generation, and data analysis in a single workspace. The service supports prompts in English, Filipino, and Taglish.

Unlike a standalone chatbot, the platform allows users to upload files and ask questions about their contents, with answers that include citations. Users can also draft and summarize documents, create spreadsheets and presentations, generate images, and analyze data.

AI.Smart runs on Amazon Web Services infrastructure, with AI inference handled through Amazon Bedrock. It provides access to models and technologies from Amazon Nova, Anthropic’s Claude, Google Gemini, OpenAI, and Thinking Machines, with different models used depending on the task.

The multi-model setup is intended to reduce the need for users to maintain separate subscriptions to different AI services.

“AI.Smart puts a real AI assistant right beside it, one that understands Filipino, respects your privacy, and can be paid for through your existing prepaid or postpaid account,” said Lloyd Manaloto, first vice president and head of strategy and corporate brand at Smart Communications.

Smart and Amihan said files uploaded to the platform remain private to a user’s workspace and are not used to train AI models. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.

The service uses credit packs that can be spent on chats, documents, spreadsheets, images, and presentations. The Solo package costs P49 and is valid for seven days, while the P99 Flex package is valid for 14 days.

A P149 Pro package provides credits valid for 30 days, while the P499 Max package is also valid for 30 days. The Pro and Max packages can be shared with a team or family.

Subscribers can buy the packages within AI.Smart, with charges applied to their Smart or TNT account after the transaction is confirmed through a one-time PIN sent by SMS.

Amihan said the service was developed around local language use, privacy requirements, payment practices, and mobile usage patterns. It plans to adapt the model for other emerging markets in Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa, and South Asia.

AI.Smart became available to Smart and TNT subscribers on Sept. 18 through AI.Smart and the LiveSmart app. Users who download and register through the new LiveSmart app may also qualify for free AI.Smart access.
