YGG expands Metaversity program ahead of Play Summit

Yield Guild Games (YGG) is scaling up its educational initiative, Metaversity, with partnerships across 24 educational institutions in the Philippines to provide training in artificial intelligence (AI) and Web3 gaming technologies.

The program seeks to equip Filipinos with transferable skills for the digital economy, which YGG refers to as preparing “Metaverse Filipino Workers.”

Metaversity delivers free, gamified online courses covering areas such as community management, game research, design, and content creation. These skills, YGG said, can be applied not only in the gaming sector but also in broader digital and creative industries.

In collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), YGG is also developing an eight-week upskilling program in Palawan. The initiative will target competencies needed in emerging digital sectors, with a focus on regional talent development.

The expansion comes as YGG readies for the YGG Play Summit, scheduled for November 18–22, 2025, at SMX Aura in Bonifacio Global City.

Themed “City of Play,” the summit will feature Metaversity’s “Skill District,” an educational hub designed to connect training directly with industry demand.

Workshops will include prompt engineering, content creation, and AI-driven gamified data labeling — areas increasingly relevant for companies investing in AI and Web3.

Other summit segments will highlight the commercial side of Web3, including:

  • Player District with demos of blockchain-based games such as Axie Infinity and Aurory;
  • Arena, which will host esports tournaments for Vibes TCG and Parallel TCG;
  • GAM3 Awards, recognizing innovation in Web3 gaming, set for November 21 at Samsung Hall.

YGG Pilipinas country head Mench Dizon said the initiative reflects the group’s commitment to talent development within the digital economy.

“Gaming is no longer just play — it is a platform for building practical skills that can be applied across industries,” Dizon said.

The summit will be backed by partners including Sky Mavis, Aurory, Pixels, Parallel TCG, and Vibes TCG, alongside blockchain and investment firms.

YGG expects the event to serve as both a showcase of Web3 innovations and a platform to link Filipino talent with global opportunities in gaming and emerging technologies.
