Filipino learners are increasingly focusing on digital and analytical skills as the country accelerates its shift toward a tech-driven economy, according to new data from global learning platform Coursera.
The company’s 2025 learner trends report, released on Dec. 9, shows strong growth in enrollments related to artificial intelligence (AI), data literacy, cybersecurity, operational planning, and language skills.
Coursera said the Philippines now has more than 3.1 million registered learners, reflecting rising demand for continuous training as local industries adopt digital tools and AI systems.
This trend mirrors national priorities under the Digital Philippines strategy and the government’s AI roadmap, which both emphasize workforce development to remain competitive.
An International Monetary Fund (IMF) study cited in the report estimates that 40% of jobs in the country are significantly affected by AI, with 14% of Filipino workers facing potential displacement without reskilling.
The report shows that interest in generative AI surged further this year. Coursera recorded one GenAI-related enrollment every seven minutes in the Philippines, faster than last year’s pace of one every fifteen minutes.
Learners were not only taking basic AI introduction courses; a growing number shifted to programs focused on productivity tools and practical workplace use, such as AI-driven job searches, prompt engineering, and automation for everyday tasks.
Aside from AI, Filipinos also enrolled heavily in training related to project execution, cybersecurity awareness, policy analysis, digital systems engineering, and psychology.
Coursera notes that the range of courses suggests workers are preparing for more cross-functional roles that combine technical skills with planning, communication, and coordination.
Learning appears to be translating into job outcomes. Citing its 2025 Learner Outcomes Report, Coursera said 95% of Filipino users reported positive career gains such as promotions or new employment, while 39% said the training improved their performance at work.
Nearly all respondents — 98% — reported personal benefits, including stronger confidence.
