In 2023, Coursera saw a huge surge in interest for generative AI content, with searches increasing by five-fold in the Philippines compared to the previous year.

There are 1.5-million registered learners from the Philippines as of 2022, the US-based online learning content provider Coursera said on Thursday, May 17.

This year, Coursera observed a rising uptake of courses related to Professional Certificates, which are designed to prepare learners without a college degree or technology experience for a wide range of high-demand digital jobs.

Coursera’s increased focus on the country is directly related to the Philippines’ skyrocketing online learner growth rate during the pandemic.

The Philippines ranked number 1 out of 190 countries with 774% year-over-year increase in enrollments from women learners.
