CICC launches ScamSafe as scam threats persist

The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) has launched ScamSafe, a new public reporting and information platform, as authorities warn that scammers remain active despite a year-on-year decline in reported online fraud cases.

CICC data show reported online scam incidents fell to 9,834 cases from January to mid-December 2025, down from 14,529 cases during the same period in 2024.

However, the agency cautioned that the decline does not mean scams are no longer widespread, particularly as fraud attempts typically spike during the holiday season when online shopping, digital payments, and charitable giving increase.

The CICC said scammers continue to exploit heightened consumer activity and public generosity, using increasingly sophisticated tactics that target individuals both online and offline.

ScamSafe is positioned as a centralized channel for reporting scam incidents and attempted fraud, allowing authorities to track patterns and respond faster.

The platform also provides practical guidance on common scam schemes, warning signs, and steps the public can take to avoid becoming victims.

Beyond public reporting, the CICC said it is stepping up coordination with law enforcement agencies, telecommunications companies, and local government units to disrupt scam operations.

This includes blocking and blacklisting phone numbers and websites linked to fraudulent activity through the agency’s Site Blocking and Monitoring Dashboard.

The agency urged the public to report scams and suspicious attempts through its 1326 hotline and official social media channels, stressing that unreported cases allow scam networks to continue operating undetected.

The CICC said it will also intensify public advisories and community-level education campaigns, particularly targeting groups considered most vulnerable to fraud, while expanding training for government personnel tasked with prevention and response.
