POCO launches X8 Pro Series with flagship chips, large batteries

Gaming-focused smartphone brand POCO has introduced three new devices under its revamped X Pro lineup: the POCO X8 Pro Max, POCO X8 Pro, and a themed POCO X8 Pro – Iron Man Edition.

Leading the series is the POCO X8 Pro Max, powered by the Dimensity 9500s chipset built on a 3nm process. The device posted an AnTuTu benchmark score of 3,085,998, with POCO highlighting its “4+4 All Big Core CPU design” and clock speeds of up to 3.73GHz. It is paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage.

The standard POCO X8 Pro runs on the Dimensity 8500-Ultra platform and recorded an AnTuTu score of 2,283,558. According to the company, the chip delivers a 25% boost in GPU performance while reducing power consumption. Both models support hardware-level ray tracing, a feature typically found in higher-end gaming devices.

On the software side, POCO introduced its WildBoost Optimization system, which “predicts computing demands for each frame” to reduce frame drops and stabilize performance during gaming sessions.

Battery capacity is a key focus of the lineup. The X8 Pro Max carries an 8,500mAh battery, which POCO said can last up to two days on a single charge and retain over 80% capacity after 1,600 charge cycles. The X8 Pro, meanwhile, uses a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery. Both devices support 100W fast charging and 27W reverse charging.

Displays also see upgrades, with the X8 Pro Max featuring a 6.83-inch panel and the X8 Pro a 6.59-inch screen. Both offer peak brightness of 3,500 nits and carry triple TÜV Rheinland eye-care certifications.

In terms of build, the X8 Pro Max uses a metal frame with a fiberglass back, while the X8 Pro emphasizes slimmer bezels and a high screen-to-body ratio.

Both models are reinforced with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i and carry multiple ingress protection ratings, including IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K. The Pro Max also received a 5-star SGS Premium Performance Certification for durability.

Completing the lineup is the POCO X8 Pro – Iron Man Edition, which features a black-and-gold design inspired by Stark Industries, along with a customized Iron Man-themed user interface.
