ROG refreshes gaming laptop range with new Strix G, SCAR models

Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG) Philippines has launched its 2026 Strix gaming laptop lineup, introducing the ROG Strix G16, ROG Strix G18, and flagship ROG Strix SCAR 18 to the local market.

The launch forms part of the gaming brand’s 20th anniversary celebration and brings updated hardware based on Intel’s latest Core Ultra processors and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 50 Series laptop graphics.

Targeted at gamers and content creators, the new ROG Strix G16 and G18 are powered by the Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 Series Laptop GPUs.

Both models feature 2.5K ROG Nebula displays with a 300Hz refresh rate aimed at delivering smoother gameplay and faster response times.

Asus said the laptops also incorporate its ROG Intelligent Cooling system, which combines a vapor chamber, Tri-Fan technology, and Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal to improve thermal performance during intensive workloads such as gaming, video editing, and streaming.

Leading the new lineup is the ROG Strix SCAR 18, which Asus said features what it describes as the world’s first 18-inch 4K 240Hz Mini LED laptop display. The panel includes more than 2,000 dimming zones, 100% DCI-P3 color coverage, and peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits.

The flagship laptop is equipped with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU and the Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX processor.

Asus said the system supports technologies such as DLSS 4 and Multi-Frame Generation to improve gaming performance and visual quality.

The company added that the SCAR 18 can deliver up to 320 watts of total system power in Manual Mode and incorporates a redesigned cooling system featuring a thicker vapor chamber and Liquid Crystal Polymer fans for improved airflow.

The ROG Strix SCAR 18 is priced from P439,995.

Both the Strix G and SCAR series feature a tool-less design that allows users to upgrade RAM and SSD storage without requiring specialized tools. Asus said the laptops also use a Q-latch mechanism to simplify SSD installation and replacement.

On the design side, the new laptops include customizable Aura RGB lighting that can be managed through the Armoury Crate software. The SCAR 18 also features the AniMe Vision lid display, which uses 810 LEDs to create programmable visual effects.

“The combination of cutting-edge technology and thoughtful design further solidifies Asus ROG’s position as a leader in the gaming laptop market,” the company said.
