Berde Renewables has signed a three-year agreement with Sungrow Power and regional distributor Solar Hive for the supply of solar inverters and battery energy storage systems for projects in the Philippines and Thailand.
Under the master framework agreement, Berde will procure 200 megawatts (MW) of solar inverters and 500 megawatt-hours (MWh) of battery energy storage systems from Sungrow.
“This partnership gives Berde the scale, technology, and regional support to deliver clean energy solutions with greater speed and confidence across the Philippines and Thailand,” said Patrick Zhu, chief executive officer of Berde Renewables.
Zhu added: “The combination of 200MW of solar and 500MWh of battery storage is a major step forward for our business and a meaningful milestone, especially for battery storage in the Philippines as demand grows for more flexible and resilient energy solutions.”
The agreement will give Berde access to Sungrow’s solar inverters, battery storage systems, electric vehicle chargers, and smart energy technologies. Solar Hive will handle regional logistics, spare parts, technical support, and after-sales services in the Philippines and Thailand.
“Sungrow, as the globally leading PV inverter and energy storage system provider, is confident it will help Berde Renewables accelerate the deployment of reliable, high-performance clean energy across Southeast Asia,” said Michael Ruan, regional director for Southeast Asia at Sungrow Power.
The companies said the battery systems could be used for load shifting, allowing customers to store electricity generated during the day and use it during periods of higher demand. The systems may also support grid stability as more intermittent renewable energy capacity is connected to the power network.
“As Sungrow Power’s regional distribution partner, Solar Hive is committed to supporting Berde’s solar business development in the Philippines and Thailand through our distribution network and fast after-sales service. We hope this 200 MW / 500 MWh milestone serves as a springboard for expanding our collaboration across other parts of Southeast Asia,” said David Zhang, head of sales and business development at Solar Hive.
The partnership also covers technical training and certification, joint market development, stakeholder engagement, and possible co-investment and vendor financing for selected projects.
Berde develops behind-the-meter solar installations for commercial and industrial customers, embedded generation projects for electric cooperatives, and other clean-energy facilities.
Under its power purchase agreement model, the company finances, builds, owns, and operates solar assets during the contract period before transferring ownership to the customer.
Berde is backed by infrastructure investment firm I Squared Capital. Sungrow supplies photovoltaic inverters, battery storage systems, EV chargers, and energy-management technologies, while Solar Hive serves as its regional distributor and after-sales partner in Southeast Asia.
