Internet services affected by a submarine cable disruption between the Philippines and Singapore have returned to normal, according to PLDT and Globe, while Converge ICT Solutions said it has successfully rerouted affected traffic through other cables.
PLDT announced the full restoration of its network services in an advisory issued at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 4.
“Services have fully normalized nationwide following the submarine cable cut between the Philippines and Singapore on Oct. 2,” PLDT said.
Globe also said it had fully restored internet services for mobile and broadband customers who experienced intermittent connectivity or slower browsing.
According to Globe, traffic across the affected segment was restored after the cable landing station in the Philippines reactivated the system and normalized fiber connections. The company said it continues to work with international network partners to determine the exact nature and location of the fault.
Converge, meanwhile, said it had shifted affected Internet and data traffic to alternative submarine cables.
“Matagumpay nang nai-reroute sa ibang submarine cables ang aming internet at data traffic papunta at mula sa Singapore na naapektuhan ng submarine cable disruption sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at Singapore,” Converge said.
The company said its technical teams continue to monitor connections to apps and websites hosted in Singapore.
“Patuloy na nakatutok ang aming technical teams para tiyaking stable ang inyong koneksyon sa mga apps at website mula sa Singapore,” it added.
Globe earlier said the disruption reduced available international bandwidth, resulting in slower Internet speeds or lag when accessing some international online services. It said it continues to monitor network performance following the restoration.
