The Philippines Information & Communications Technology Organization (PICTO) has begun consultations with industry stakeholders to shape the agenda of its 2027 ICT forum, with artificial intelligence (AI), digital security, and connectivity among the proposed discussion areas.
PICTO held its first Tech Table on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Club Filipino, bringing together officers and stakeholders to gather industry input for the planned PICTO Future-Forum 2027, which will focus on leveraging AI for a secure, connected, and smarter Philippines.
“We want the forum to be relevant, not just another conference,” said PICTO President Mohamed “Momo” Kanouni, who also heads NextLogic Telecommunications.
Kanouni said AI is changing business operations, customer expectations, and telecommunications networks, making industry consultations necessary to identify emerging challenges and priorities.
He asked participants to recommend topics and resource speakers and raise issues that organizers might otherwise overlook in preparing the conference program.
PICTO director Nino Valmonte presented an overview of the planned forum, while vice president for internal Edgie Gutierrez discussed its objectives.
Among the proposed topics is Pax Silica, alongside AI, digital security, digital infrastructure, and connectivity. Discussions will also cover the capabilities Filipino businesses and workers need to participate in the digital economy.
PICTO plans to hold Tech Table discussions every quarter to collect feedback from members and track developments in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector.
The inputs will help shape the annual forum, which aims to bring together government and industry representatives to discuss ICT challenges and identify opportunities for collaboration.
The first Tech Table was supported by Huawei Cloud, WSI, GDAC, and Eugene Reyes of Indiegogo. PICTO vice president for external Ma. Corazon Akol delivered the closing remarks.
PICTO represents stakeholders in the electronics, information technology, broadcasting, and telecommunications industries. The organization works with the government on ICT policy and digital infrastructure initiatives.
