Addressing news stories of its reported partnership with SpaceX, listed broadband provider Converge ICT said on Monday, Feb. 15, that is still “very premature” to discuss a deal to become the local partner for the US aerospace firm’s Starlink satellite broadband project.

Fiber broadband provider Converge ICT will make a formal announcement on Monday, Feb. 15, on the reported deal it has struck to become the local partner of SpaceX for its ambitious Starlink satellite broadband project.

Subscribers of Plan 1500 will now also be able to have an even higher speed add-on of up to 45 Mbps when they pay an additional P99.

In addition, new subscribers can also enjoy their first month completely free when they apply for any Converge plan from December 12, 2020 to January 31, 2021.

With newly listed fiber broadband provider Converge ICT publicly declaring it will seek to deploy the country's most extensive fiber network, local telcos PLDT and Globe Telecom have disclosed significant investments to expand their own fiber infrastructure.

Converge ICT founder and chief executive officer Dennis Anthony Uy said proceeds of the IPO will boost the company’s objective to build the largest fiber broadband network in the country.

Fiber broadband provider Converge ICT Solutions said it has also increased its overall hotline capacity to match the additional staffing to address customer inquiries and follow-ups.

Converge ICT will hold the offer period from October 13 to 19.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has considered favorably the initial public offering of Converge ICT for a maximum of about P41.55 billion.

Luzon-based broadband provider Converge ICT is expanding to Mindanao and has tapped Finnish network firm Nokia to deploy fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) solution.
