Local telcos DITO, Globe Telecom, and Smart Communications conducted the tests in preparation for the implementation of mobile number portability by September 30.
Globe Telecom branded as illegal the recent resolution of Barangay Plainview in Mandaluyong City that prohibits the construction and operation of cell sites within its territorial jurisdiction.
PhilTower will be introducing new solutions such as the Micro Cell Poles that have a low impact and small footprint with capability to load in radios and has battery backup within the pole for network densification.
Under the memorandum of agreement, DepEd Cebu will offer its premises free of rent for the cell sites while Globe will furnish DepEd schools in the province with free broadband and WiFi services.
Globe Telecom CEO Ernest Cu made the statement in response to the comment made by PLDT and Smart Communications chair Manny V. Pangilinan that the country’s overall Internet speed is being “pulled down” by other broadband providers.
The workshops, slated to happen between May 21 and June 4, 2021, will give participants the chance to be coached and mentored by industry experts on 5G technology and innovation.
The internal mobile number portability (MNP) capability covers all postpaid to prepaid, prepaid to postpaid, and prepaid to prepaid customer movements within Globe and TM brands.
Globe said it beat Smart across 10 out of 17 regions in the Philippines in terms of mobile download speed. Smart, on the other hand, said it captured the title as the country’s fastest mobile network for the third year running.
