IDC said ink tank products are increasing in prominence with a growing trend of SMEs and SOHOs shifting their preference from entry level laser to ink tank, whereas demand for ink cartridge continues to see a downtrend with shrinking home printing usage.
The top three contributors to the growth of the APeJ region were China, India, and the Philippines. This was the first quarter where ink tank shipments were greater than ink cartridge, making ink tank the leading product in the inkjet market for APeJ with 51.1% share.
The company said it will further accelerate the shift from conventional ink cartridge models to high-capacity ink tank models with the aim of establishing the latter as the inkjet printer mainstream.
The L-series has a redesigned exterior to shrink into a compact physique, which the printing technology company claims as "the smallest footprint among all brands of ink tank printers."
