Congress approved last May 20 a legislative measure allowing the Mislatel consortium to acquire control from franchise holder Mindanao Islamic Telephone Company.
The Mislatel consortium, winning bidder for the country’s third telco slot, is eyeing to install some 10,000 cell sites within the country in the next
The House of Representatives pointed out that Mislatel has failed to diligently submit within 60 days from the end of every year the required annual report to the Congress. Nevertheless, non-compliance with reportorial requirement did not affect the validity of Mislatel?s franchise.
Mislatel had a terminated contract with DigiPhil but that was meant for small projects like VSAT, the company said in a statement.
The lone winning bidder, Mislatel, still needs to undergo a document verification phase within three calendar days before it is confirmed as the country?s third telco player.
