Analytics consortium announces Board of Trustees

Analitika, an industry-led consortium which aims to enable the Philippines to become the global center for smarter analytics, has introduced its Board of Trustees.

The Board of Trustees will lead the consortium in defining, developing, enhancing, promoting, nurturing and sustaining analytics as an industry.

A social and professional organization of private, public and academic institutions and individuals who are interested in the science and practice of analytics, it will define the new professions that will be required by the transformed industries and ensure the availability of the required talent.

?The Philippines is the first in the world to nationally declare analytics as the next growth focus,? said Mariels Almeda Winhoffer, president of Analitika and country general manager of IBM Philippines.

?As a country that will become home to topnotch global Analytics talent, Philippine companies must be fully engaged in developing and leveraging this capability and opportunity that will help improve various fields and industries and endow upon them competitive advantage.?

The global market for analytics is estimated to be in the neighborhood of $232B by 2015, with over 4.4 million high-value services jobs created, out of which only 30 percent is set to be fulfilled.

The consortium is working with government and academe to ensure the Philippines is well-positioned to seize this opportunity.
