As the Department of Education (DepEd) marked its sixth year of implementing K to 12 with the introduction of senior high school this June, education technology company Quipper underscored the need to provide free online lessons for Grade 11 through its e-learning platform Quipper School.
Now on its third year in the Philippines with a growing number of around 1 million registered users, Quipper School provides DepEd-aligned, ready-made lessons and assessments in Math, English, Science, Filipino, Araling Panlipunan, and Computer for Grades 4 to 11.
To date, Quipper said it has already partnered with 28 DepEd divisions and 333 schools nationwide in rolling out Quipper School, and is actively expanding its reach to more educational institutions to avail of the online service.
?Our goal at Quipper is to fully support the DepEd throughout this transition by providing both content and an e-learning platform to help them develop the teaching and learning environment best suited for the 21st century,? Quipper Philippines country manager Yuki Naotori said.
?We are excited to provide our services to more public and private schools nationwide, especially to those that need senior high school content. We enjoin school officials throughout the country to take a look at what we can offer to elevate the level of learning of our students.?
Quipper School?s Grade 11 content includes Oral Communication in Context, Reading and Writing Skills, 21st Century Literature from the Philippines and the World, Komunikasyon at Pananaliksik sa Wika at Kulturang Pilipino, Pagbasa at Pagsusuri ng Iba?t Ibang Teksto Tungo sa Pananaliksik, General Mathematics, Statistics and Probability, Earth and Life Science, Physical Science, Earth Science, Introduction to the Philosophy of the Human Person, and Understanding Culture, Society, and Politics.
Teachers are likewise able to upload their own lessons and assessments on the platform to make these available to their classes, which is also free of charge.
As an online platform, Quipper School allows teachers to send lessons and assessments online, exchange messages with students, and track student progress in real time.
Students, on the other hand, are able to access their lessons, answer homework and quizzes, and earn virtual coins which they can use to buy desktop screen wallpapers whenever they answer correctly.
To start using Quipper School, teachers need to create an account on https://school.quipper.com and register themselves and their school. Once registered, they can start creating classes and inviting students to join these. Teachers can then access all the content on Quipper School, and select the ones to make available to their students.
Quipper School has been credited by schools for helping to improve their students? academic performance. In Makati City for instance, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Maria Theresa Namoro claimed that ?the active use of Quipper School has enabled public schools to improve their performance in the National Achievement Test, in some cases by up to 30%.?
Quipper also offers a premium online video streaming service called Quipper Video which features lessons conducted by teachers from some of the country?s top educational institutions. Videos on this paid service are accompanied by downloadable PDF versions of the lesson as well as short quizzes.
The service currently offers video lessons for Math, English, Science, and Filipino for Grade 11, as well as Math, English, and Science for Grade 10, with all of the content aligned with the K to 12 curriculum.
