The Department of Tourism (DOT) is planning to work with social media superstar Jeremy Jauncey to promote the country’s top tourist destinations.
Jauncey is the founder and CEO of Instagram’s famous page Beautiful Destinations, which boasts of more than 10 million followers.
The 31-year-old British tech entrepreneur and traveler visited the DOT office in Makati City on Tuesday, Aug. 30, to meet with DOT secretary Wanda Corazon Teo and undersecretary Kat de Castro.
De Castro said the DOT is looking forward to working with Jauncey, who is touted as Instagram’s “hottest male traveler” and a “globetrotting hunk”.
DOT media director Ina Zara-Loyola told the Philippine News Agency that Jauncey has offered his services to help in the tourism campaign of the government.
Jauncey, who grew up in Scotland, started Beautiful Destinations in 2012 after he discovered his passion for traveling and photography.
His Instagram page — which has Hollywood celebrity following, including model Kendall Jenner — features photographs of different tourist sites around the world.
Jauncey, who is based in New York, announced his plan to visit the Philippines through a video uploaded on his Instagram account a week ago.
