Google expands indie game accelerator program to include PH

Tech behemoth Google has announced the second run of its Indie Games Accelerator program, this time opening it to game developers to more countries including the Philippines.

?Our team of program mentors had an amazing time coaching some of the best gaming talent from India, Pakistan, and Southeast Asia. We?re very encouraged by the positive feedback we received for the program and are excited to bring it back in 2019?, said Google in a blog announcement.

Applications for the second class of Indie Games Accelerator are now open until May 19, 2019.

As a special edition of the Launchpad Accelerator, the six-month program will feature a comprehensive gaming curriculum to fuel knowledge and inspire creativity among aspiring mobile game developers. Indie Games Accelerator will also open opportunities for participants to network with industry veterans and receive direct coaching from Google teams and gaming experts.

Filipino developers who will be able to secure a slot in the program will be flown to Google Asia-Pacific office in Singapore for two all-expenses-paid bootcamps. They will also receive Google Pixel phones, Google Cloud Platform credits, and exclusive invites to Google and industry events.

Last year, Google kicked off the first Indie Games Accelerator and gathered more than 20 indie mobile game startups from India, Pakistan, and Southeast Asia to let their ideas reach new heights. Two local developers, Mochibits and Monstronauts, were part of the successful inaugural batch.
