More than half of the vehicles that will be showcased at the 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) this June will be electrified models, reflecting the local automotive industry’s growing shift toward hybrid and electric mobility amid the ongoing fuel crisis.
The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) formally launched the biennial motor show on May 6, announcing that around 75 of the more than 150 vehicle models on display will be electrified units, including hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and battery electric vehicles.
The 10th edition of PIMS will run from June 4 to 7 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City under the theme “Forward in Every Drive.”
Participating brands include BAIC, Chery, Foton, Geely, Honda, Isuzu, Jetour, Kia, MG, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Omoda and Jaecoo, Subaru, Suzuki, Tesla, Toyota, and VinFast.
In his opening remarks, CAMPI president Jose Maria “Jing” Atienza said the motor show highlights the industry’s efforts to adapt to changing consumer demands and mobility challenges.
“Under the theme: Forward in Every Drive, the 2026 PIMS underscores our aim in fostering a vibrant and competitive auto industry. One that is always moving ahead as a primary mobility provider to the Filipino motorists, and constantly evolving with appropriate technologies and solutions to address the changing customer needs,” Atienza said.
Atienza also linked the growing presence of electrified vehicles to concerns over fuel prices and energy security.
“The Motorshow becomes even more relevant now, as the country confronts challenges related to the ongoing Fuel Crisis. We will present various choices and options, knowing full well that there is no single solution to the problems we face today and those that we will surely encounter from hereon,” he said.
He added that visitors can expect “a wide selection of energy-saving cars from energy efficient Internal Combustion Vehicles, and various Electrified options covering Hybrids, Plug-In Hybrids and Battery Electric Vehicles.”
Elvin Luciano, chairman of CAMPI’s public relations committee and part of the PIMS organizing team, said the large number of electrified models reflects how quickly the industry is diversifying.
“We are expecting more than 150 vehicle models on display and available for test drive, with around 75 electrified models, making up roughly 50% of the lineup, a clear reflection of how quickly the industry is diversifying,” Luciano said.
Luciano added that more than half of the participating brands are expected to launch or preview new models during the four-day event. The show will also feature displays focused on energy efficiency, new automotive technologies, and mobility solutions.
CAMPI said the 10th edition of PIMS is expected to be its biggest yet as the local auto industry continues expanding its electrified vehicle offerings.
