DTI, Converge open AI center for Filipino businesses

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Converge ICT Solutions Inc. have opened a center in Makati City that will provide local companies and startups with training, demonstrations, and technical guidance on adopting artificial intelligence (AI) and other digital tools.

Launched on Tuesday, Aug. 11, the DTI AI and Scale-Up Center at the DTI Filinvest Building features live AI demonstration areas, Accelerator Pods, and training facilities where businesses can test technologies and learn how to apply them to their operations.

The center will also conduct workshops and technical consultations with private-sector technology partners. Its programs are intended to help enterprises improve workflows, raise productivity, and move from early-stage concepts to market-ready operations.

“This AI and Scale-Up Center provides a realistic, accessible entry point for Filipino businesses to explore and adopt modern technology like AI. Scaling a business requires usable tools and expert guidance so that innovative ideas can turn into functional solutions,” DTI secretary Cristina Roque said.

The facility stems from a memorandum of understanding signed by the DTI and Converge in November 2025 under the telecommunications company’s SME Solutions initiative.

As the center’s inaugural technology partner, Converge will provide connectivity and digital infrastructure for its training and demonstration activities.

“Through reliable connectivity and hands-on technology solutions, our goal is to help companies understand AI, streamline their operations, and expand their reach in today’s evolving market,” Converge founder and CEO Dennis Anthony Uy said.

The partners also introduced MSME Digital Transformation Programs offering services such as business broadband and e-commerce connectivity.

The programs are aimed at helping smaller companies adopt digital systems despite their limited budgets and technical resources.

The DTI said the center would work with other private-sector partners to provide practical training, technology consultations, and business-scaling programs to local enterprises.
