Supreme Court (SC) chief justice Alexander G. Gesmundo led a delegation to Fortinet’s headquarters in Sunnyvale, California, on Sept. 29 and 30 to discuss cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), and network infrastructure for the judiciary’s digital services.
The visit was part of the court’s modernization program under the Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 2022–2027, according to the SC Office of the Spokesperson.
Fortinet officials briefed the delegation on network security, threat intelligence, cloud security, and centralized security management. Discussions also covered AI-enabled security tools and quantum-ready strategies to address emerging cyber threats.
SC representatives presented updates on the judiciary’s digitalization initiatives and discussed its requirements for securing judicial information systems and delivering digital court services.
The delegation toured Fortinet’s Executive Briefing Center and held technical discussions with the company’s cybersecurity specialists.
Joining Gesmundo were associate justices Jose Midas P. Marquez and Raul B. Villanueva, deputy clerk of court and chief technology officer Jed Sherwin Uy, deputy judicial staff head Antonio Ceasar Manila, and other court officials and staff.
Fortinet representatives included global vice president for marketing Anthony James, enhanced technologies manager for Asean Ching Ping Wong, Philippines public sector head John Mark Empig, and Philippines major account manager Arabella Evalla.
