Toyota eSports GT crowns new PH champion ahead of Asia finals

The sixth season of the Toyota GAZOO Racing (TGR) Philippines eSports GT Championship concluded on October 12 at Ayala Malls Manila Bay, drawing over 20,000 spectators as the country’s top sim racers competed for national titles and a slot at the Asia Finals in Thailand.

Victor Ancheta clinched the 2025 championship after a series of quarterfinal, semifinal, and national final rounds that began with over 250 participants.

Ancheta, who qualified third overall, consistently placed among the top racers to secure the national title with 72 points.

Enzo Ison, last year’s runner-up and Asia Finals participant, finished second with 67.5 points, while Matthew Ang, who placed third in 2023, repeated his podium finish with 61.5 points.

All three will represent the Philippines in the regional competition.

The top 40 racers from the qualifiers advanced to the quarterfinals, followed by 20 in the semifinals.

A surprise Wild Card Round brought back eight racers and two former champions — Luis Moreno (2024) and Russel Reyes (2023) — giving another chance to rejoin the finals. James Lopez emerged as the Wild Card winner.

The national finals featured three races using different Toyota models across various tracks: the Toyota Supra Racing Concept ’18 at Kyoto Driving Park, the Toyota GR Yaris at Colorado Springs, and the Toyota GR010 Hybrid at Circuit de Spa Francorchamps. Tire wear, fuel consumption, and dynamic weather added to the challenge.

Ancheta received the Crowd Favorite Award, Ison earned Smooth Operator, Ang took Pole Position, and Jether Miole was recognized for Best Overtake.

The winners will compete at the Asia Finals in Thailand, where Ancheta, Ison, and Ang aim to measure their skills against the region’s best sim racers.
