Ayala Corporation and ACMobility-affiliate BYD Cars Philippines have unveiled the BYD eMAX 9 DM-i, a state-of-the-art mid-size multipurpose vehicle (MPV), during the recently concluded 13th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit.
The eMAX 9 DM-i is a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) that combines electric propulsion with an onboard gasoline generator, reflecting BYD’s push to deliver sustainable mobility without compromising driving range and convenience.
Tailored for Filipino families, the eMAX 9 DM-i integrates performance, safety, and comfort in a sleek package defined by BYD’s signature Dragon Face design language.
The exterior features LED lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels, and hands-free side doors and tailgate, lending the vehicle both practicality and refinement.
Inside, the seven-seater MPV is available in two variants — the Premium and Advanced models.
The Premium version includes ventilated, massaging captain’s chairs and beige-or-brown leather interiors, plus a built-in refrigerator and a Tri-Zone Cooling System for personalized comfort.
The Advanced variant offers plush manually adjustable seats with black leather upholstery.
Entertainment is delivered through a 15.6-inch infotainment system, paired with a 12-speaker setup in the Premium model and eight speakers in the Advanced variant.
At its core is BYD’s Super DM-i hybrid technology, combining high-output electric motors with a 1.5-liter turbocharged generator to produce 271 PS and 315 Nm of torque. This allows the MPV to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds.
The Premium model carries a 36.6 kWh battery capable of up to 170 km of pure-electric range, while the Advanced variant’s 20.4 kWh pack offers 95 km.
Both deliver a combined range of nearly 1,000 km, easing range anxiety for long trips.
Charging options include 7 kW AC and 73 kW DC fast charging. A full charge takes around three hours for the Advanced and five hours for the Premium, while a DC fast charger can boost the battery from 30 to 80 percent in under 20 minutes.
The eMAX 9 DM-i also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, enabling it to power external devices — ideal for outdoor activities or emergencies.
The Premium trim further integrates BYD’s DiSus-C suspension system for enhanced stability and the DiPilot Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot detection.
Pricing and Availability
The BYD eMAX 9 DM-i Advanced is priced at ₱2,678,000 (BPI all-in downpayment ₱298,000), while the Premium variant retails at ₱2,998,000 (BPI all-in downpayment ₱368,000). Both come in Cosmos Black, Deep Sea Blue, and Aurora White color options.
