Epson Philippines has partnered with Urban Label by Maria & Co to launch a new textile collection that draws from Filipino cultural heritage while using modern digital design and production tools.
The collaboration was facilitated by ES Print Media, which helped connect Epson with fashion designer Beatriz Nicole Benadera.
At the center of the collection is the Waling-Waling, often referred to as the Queen of Philippine Flowers and widely regarded as a symbol of resilience and beauty.
Its distinctive colors and intricate form serve as the primary visual element of the garments, blending traditional motifs with contemporary silhouettes.
Benadera said the collection draws from Filipino identity across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, using fabric as the main storytelling medium.
Rather than relying on embellishments, the designs highlight textile prints, color, and placement to shape each piece.
The collection was produced using Epson’s digital textile printing technology, which allowed photographic references of the Waling-Waling to be translated into detailed fabric prints.
According to Epson, the process enabled large textile panels to be printed in single runs, helping maintain visual continuity and detail across garments.
Epson said its digital textile solutions also support more mindful production by allowing on-demand printing, reducing excess materials in the design process.
“Working with Epson completely changed my creative process,” Benadera said. “It allowed textile design to become part of each garment and shifted my approach from designing around limitations to designing with confidence.”
For Epson, the partnership highlights how technology can support both creativity and sustainability in fashion.
“Epson has decades of experience in precision printing,” said Masako Kusama, director and president of Epson Philippines Corporation. “Our solutions help designers execute ideas with clarity while supporting mindful production.”
