The country’s Unified 911 Emergency Response System is nearing full deployment, with authorities reporting the project is about 60% complete as of early 2026.
The initiative aims to enable real-time coordination among emergency responders across jurisdictions, particularly between the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
As part of the rollout, NGA (Next Generation Advanced) 911 Philippines has deployed push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) technology, which allows first responders to communicate instantly using mobile networks instead of traditional radio systems.
In November and December, the group delivered 15,000 PoC-enabled handheld devices and 77 dispatch consoles to the BFP national headquarters. These have since been distributed to fire stations nationwide, according to the company.
The system is part of the NGA911 Nexis Suite, a communications platform designed for public safety operations. It allows voice communication as well as the transmission of images, video, text, and operational data to support real-time situational awareness.
Unlike conventional radio systems that rely on dedicated infrastructure, PoC devices use existing 4G and 5G networks, allowing wider coverage, including in remote and disaster-prone areas.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is also looking to use the system to support body-worn camera initiatives during fire inspections, enabling both communication and video documentation.
In addition to the BFP deployment, about 5,000 PoC licenses are set to be issued to the PNP to improve inter-agency coordination.
NGA 911 Philippines said training programs for responders, dispatchers, and system administrators are ongoing, with full nationwide rollout targeted by the end of April.
“Within just seven months since its launch in September 2025, the project has reached nearly 60 percent completion—with major milestones delivered ahead of schedule. We remain fully committed to completing this initiative on time and in full,” said NGA 911 Philippines country head Robert Llaguno.
The company added that the project, a joint venture with PLDT, is on track for completion within the year.
