Solar firms pitch long-term savings, energy resilience at Brand Day 2026

Renewable energy companies and industry players gathered at the Conrad Manila on Monday, May 18, for Brand Day 2026, an event focused on solar power and clean energy technologies in the Philippines.

Among the participants were renewable energy firms IAN Solar Energy Corp., Solis, Dyness, and JA Solar.

The event featured product showcases, technical presentations, networking sessions, and discussions on the growing role of solar and energy storage systems in addressing rising electricity costs and grid reliability concerns.

In an interview with the media, Mark Minoza, product solutions manager for SE Asia at Solis, highlighted the long-term value of battery storage systems, saying some units are rated for up to 8,000 charging cycles, equivalent to around 21 years of use.

Minoza also focused on the advantages of hybrid solar systems for households, particularly during power interruptions.

“For one is, especially for the hybrid, the real advantage of that is convenience. Because now, you are not dependent solely on your grid,” he said.

“If there’s any grid interactions, then by all means, you can have disco lights inside your house because you have a power backup.”

Minoza added that solar systems can help households with members who require uninterrupted cooling or medical support equipment by reducing dependence on the power grid.

Minoza also touched on the long-term sustainability of renewable energy compared to fossil fuels.

“Coal and fossil fuel are not renewable sources,” he said. “With solar, the supply of sunlight is not going to run out.”

Organizers said the gathering reflects the continued growth of the country’s renewable energy industry and the increasing focus on solar and energy storage technologies as part of efforts to improve energy security and sustainability.

“Brand Day 2026 underscores the commitment of industry leaders to advancing sustainable, reliable, and clean energy solutions in the country,” the organizers said.
