De La Salle University (DLSU) will open applications for a master’s program in intellectual property (IP) management and innovation for academic year 2027–2028, under a partnership with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The institutions describe the Master in Intellectual Property Management and Innovation as the first master’s program dedicated to IP in the Philippines.
It will focus on how research and creative work can be managed, transferred, and commercialized, alongside the legal foundations of IP. The program was formally launched on Sept. 20.
The 36-unit degree will take 18 months or less to complete. DLSU will conduct classes in English at its Manila campus through a mix of face-to-face and hybrid lectures. Courses will cover IP management, innovation, technology transfer, and commercialization.
“As Filipino creativity and innovation continue to grow, so too does the need for professionals who can manage, protect, commercialize and maximize the value of IP,” IPOPHL director general Teodoro Pascua said.
WIPO director general Daren Tang said the program would take a multidisciplinary approach to connecting research, businesses, and government.
The institutions are also considering internships, work placements, and collaborative research, subject to further arrangements and available resources.
The program will be open to applicants of any nationality. The partners are targeting at least 20 students each academic year.
