Due to the crisis in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, President Rodrigo Duterte declared martial law in Mindanao. It is for a 60-day duration.
There are Filipinos who are well aware of the possible dangers of martial law. There are also those who think it’s the right tool to finally stamp out insurgents.
Amid the spirited debate about the subject, a curious thing happened. It seems that some overenthusiastic people didn’t have a clue about martial law. In fact, they didn’t even know the term itself. Why they didn’t bother to at least do a Google search on it is definitely a mystery. Thus, some of them used the term “marshmallow.”
Netizens have had a field day with the erroneous catchphrase, “Mashmallow in Mindanao.” Now, our question is this: Should this be considered an act of treason? Because it’s truly an assault on the senses.
For what it’s worth, this confirms that social media is a virtual zoo that attracts all sorts of animals ? including those who still have to undergo some evolution.
