Three months after going off the air and a month after being denied of a new franchise to broadcast, broadcast giant ABS-CBN has officially announced its digital pivot with the launch of “Kapamilya Online Live.”
ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak appealed to Congress for due process as the NTC stated it will issue a cease-and-desist order (CDO) on the broadcast of ABS-CBN programs aired via the TV Plus digital conversion box.
ABS-CBN TVplus Go is the on-the-go version of the popular TVplus box, and turns Android smartphones into a “handheld TV” without consuming mobile data by acting as a digital TV broadcast receiver.
Almost three-fourths of non-cabled homes in Metro Manila are now watching television via digital terrestrial television (DTT), driven primarily by the robust sales of ABS-CBN TVplus that has already sold 6.1 million units as of October 10 since its launch in 2015.
