After spinning off from tech titan IBM to become an “agnostic” IT infrastructure services company, Kyndryl – which bills itself as the world’s largest start-up -- is getting ready for the explosion of hybrid or distributed cloud in the Philippines and the whole Asean region.
Multi-cloud services provider VMware, now acquired by the Broadcom Software Group after completing the spin-off from Dell Technologies, introduced its new management portfolio called VMware Aria during the company’s rebranded flagship conference which is now called VMware Explore.
IBM chief executive officer Arvind Krishna said the company is betting heavily on hybrid cloud and AI because it sees the immense possibilities these technologies can open up for organizations everywhere.
IBM Philippines chief technologist Lope Doromal Jr. cited a survey, which showed that organizations are able to get 2.5 times the value in investment by using hybrid cloud compared to the use of single cloud or a single vendor infrastructure.
Most of the cloud budgets are being allocated to hybrid cloud platforms even as their public cloud spend is set to reduce from 53 percent share today to 43 percent by 2023.
At its first virtual AP Cloud Forum, tech giant IBM said businesses hit by the Covid-19 pandemic can still survive and even thrive in these difficult times by hopping onto a hybrid cloud environment.
