Two universities in Western Visayas have launched their respective mobile apps in the hopes of upgrading the ancient art of weaving in Western Visayas and introduce new technology that can be used for mass production.
The markers are equipped with quick response (QR) codes and near field communication (NFC) chips. When scanned through a mobile app, the QR and NFC devices will activate a browser window that will provide detailed information about the site on the user?s smartphone.
In a decade, the country is expected to have 380 scientists, engineers, and researchers for every one million Filipinos, the suggested benchmark of the Unesco, a science and technology official said.
