Tech firm Ookla has released its Q3 Internet Performance Report on the state of mobile networks in the Philippines, which is based on data from Speedtest.
Globe said it beat Smart across 10 out of 17 regions in the Philippines in terms of mobile download speed. Smart, on the other hand, said it captured the title as the country’s fastest mobile network for the third year running.
The Philippine government said it is closely monitoring the performance of local telcos as the country moved up to the 86th spot in the global mobile Internet speed rankings in January 2021 based on an Ookla report.
Ookla said the mobile Internet speed in the country also improved, but at a much slower pace, showing an 99.1% increase in download speed over the last four years.
The latest report, which covers Q1-Q2 2019, also showed both PLDT and Smart widening their respective leads over its competitors Globe Telecom and Sky.
