The company said this is just one of the findings of a survey conducted by market research firm TNS.

The TNS survey said 53 percent of all respondents from Metro Manila already own a smartphone and for 2015, it is estimated that the Philippines will still witness a 22 percent year-on-year increase in smartphone adoption, thus making m-commerce more and more viable and conducive among Filipinos.

The company also said since its launch in early 2014, the Lazada Mobile App downloads have grown 18 percent month-on-month on iOS and Android. Each mobile app and mobile browser user spends an average of 5 minutes shopping online, and mobile app users shop more regularly and make more purchases per year.

This is one of the reasons why Lazada is holding a mobile app sale on Feb. 25, the 29th anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolt.

Lazada also said 60 percent of those who shop via mobile are female customers between the ages of 24 years to 35 years old.

Most mobile users shop during their lunch breaks, (11am and 1pm) and before they go to bed (9pm and 10pm). Fashion, health and beauty, electronics, as well as home and living items are currently the most search and bought items via mobile devices.

Lazada further said with telco giants Smart and Globe pushing mobile Internet bundles, m-commerce is expected to become even more popular.
