Max, the American streaming service formerly known as HBO Max, has formally debuted in the Philippines and in Southeast Asia including Taiwan and Hong Kong, offering entertainment at affordable rates.
Subscribers to Max will have access to various channel brands, including Home Box Office (HBO), the DC Universe, Cartoon Network, Max Originals, Discovery, The Learning Channel (TLC), Asian Food Network (AFN), Food Network, Investigation Discovery (ID), and Home & Garden Television (HGTV).
During an event held at Bonifacio High Street on Nov. 19, Max announced as well as the premiere of the highly anticipated show, “Dune: Prophecy.”
Another show premiering is “Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking,” a Harry Potter-themed baking competition hosted by Oliver and James Phelps, who portrayed George and Fred Weasley in the Harry Potter films. They also attended the event to promote the new program, and engage the fans.
Max offers a collection of Hollywood movie hits, including the “Harry Potter” franchise, “The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy, “The Matrix” Trilogy, and the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).
The platform’s TV series lineup also features popular titles such as “Game of Thrones”, “House of the Dragon”, “The White Lotus”, “True Detective”, “The Penguin”, and the iconic sitcom “Friends”.
Subscribers can look forward to upcoming movies and series in the coming months, including “Twisters”, “Expend4bles”, “IF”, “Sweethearts”, season three of “The Sex Lives of College Girls”, “The Big Bang Theory”, “House MD”, and “The Office”.
Max allows users to create profiles, making it easier to find movies and shows that match their preferences. Kid profiles can also be created, featuring curated age-appropriate content with parental controls.
Movies and shows viewed on Max are automatically bookmarked upon exiting, so users can easily resume where they left off.
Max offers three main subscription options:
- Mobile Plan (1-month plan at P149 or 12-month plan at P1,040) – This package allows streaming on one mobile device in HD resolution, with up to 15 downloads for offline viewing.
- Standard Plan (1-month plan at P269 or 12-month plan at P1,890) – This package allows streaming on two devices simultaneously in Full HD resolution, with up to 30 downloads for offline viewing.
- Ultimate Plan (1-month plan at P399 or 12-month plan at P2,790) – This package allows streaming on four devices at once in 4K UHD resolution with Dolby Atmos audio output, and up to 100 downloads for offline viewing.
Existing HBO Go subscribers will be automatically upgraded to a Max subscription starting Nov. 19 in the Philippines, expanding their movie and show collections and providing an improved interface.
