Epson intros compact checkout printer for PH retailers

As Philippine retailers shift toward smaller store formats and tablet-based point-of-sale (POS) systems, demand is growing for checkout equipment that fits limited counter space without slowing transactions.

Epson Philippines is positioning its TM-m30II-SL receipt printer for this segment, targeting cafés, salons, kiosks, and small retail outlets that rely on mobile or tablet-based checkout setups.

The device combines a receipt printer with an integrated tablet mount, allowing retailers to reduce counter clutter and eliminate the need for separate stands or bulky POS hardware.

Designed for tight layouts, the TM-m30II-SL features front-access operation, enabling it to be placed against walls or under shelves.

Epson said the printer can produce receipts at speeds of up to 250 millimeters per second, supporting high-traffic environments despite its compact size.

The unit also includes paper-saving functions intended to reduce receipt length and paper use.

The printer is compatible with a range of tablet-based POS platforms, reflecting the growing use of mobile payment systems and digital wallets in the country.

Retailers have increasingly adopted modular counters and pop-up store concepts as consumer shopping habits evolve and rental costs remain high in urban areas.

According to Epson Philippines president and director Masako Kusama, local retailers are prioritizing flexibility and efficient use of space as they redesign checkout areas.

She said the TM-m30II-SL was developed for environments where traditional POS setups are no longer practical.

Epson said the product aligns with its broader focus on compact and energy-efficient POS hardware as the local retail sector continues to move toward smaller, technology-driven store formats.
