Epson software turns scanned documents into searchable, editable files

Epson Philippines is promoting its Document Capture Pro software as a tool for businesses seeking to integrate paper records into digital workflows.

The software works with compatible Epson DS series scanners and allows organizations to configure up to 30 scanning jobs, depending on the device. These workflows can apply preset scanning, file-naming, sorting and routing rules to frequently processed documents such as contracts, invoices, receipts and forms.

Document Capture Pro includes optical character recognition, or OCR, which converts text on scanned pages into searchable digital information. It can also convert documents into editable Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files.

Supported formats include JPEG, PDF, TIFF, PNG, DOCX, XLSX and PPTX, although availability varies depending on the scanner and operating system.

The software can automatically separate batches of scanned documents based on blank pages, barcodes, recognized text, form type, file size and patch codes. Files can then be routed to compatible cloud storage services, including Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive.

The conversion feature could be used to digitize printed reports and tables for editing or analysis. Educators and trainers may also convert pages from textbooks or training manuals into PowerPoint files instead of recreating the material manually.

“For many businesses, physical documents remain part of daily operations even as more work moves into digital systems. Epson develops document solutions that help make these processes easier to manage and help employees access the information they need,” said Noelle Gonzalez, head of marketing at Epson Philippines.
