The University of the Philippines will convene researchers, industry players, and government officials for its first innovation summit on May 5-6 at the SMX Convention Center Aura.
Dubbed “Inoblasyon: The UP Innovation Summit,” the event will focus on how research and collaboration can address national challenges, particularly in science, technology, and innovation.
The two-day summit will also mark the formal launch of the UP System’s Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, a new unit tasked with coordinating technology development and partnerships across the university system.
UP said the office will help align research initiatives with national priorities and strengthen linkages with industry and government.
As part of the event, the university will introduce eight innovation clusters covering priority sectors: health and biomedical systems; agri-aqua biotechnology and food systems; functional foods and nutraceuticals; climate and environmental technologies; sustainable materials and green manufacturing; creative industries; digital governance; and education technologies.
The summit will also include technology showcases, startup and research exhibits, and networking sessions aimed at linking academia with potential partners and investors.
Organizers said the event will feature the signing of collaborative agreements to support the transfer, adoption, and scaling of UP-developed technologies.
The summit is spearheaded by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, the Technology Transfer and Business Development Office, and the Office of the Vice President for Public Affairs.
