Electric and hybrid vehicles emerged as a major focus of the 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), with automakers using the event to introduce new battery-electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid models as competition in the country’s growing electrified vehicle market intensifies.
The four-day show, organized by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI), opened Thursday at the World Trade Center Metro Manila, bringing together 17 automotive brands and showcasing a broad range of mobility technologies.
Among the new electrified models unveiled were Nissan’s All-New X-Trail e-Power and a preview of the All-New Kicks e-Power, Navara Pro Plug-in Hybrid, and Primera EV.

MG launched the RX9 PHEV, MG4 Urban, and HS PHEV, while Mitsubishi Motors introduced the All-New Outlander PHEV.
Toyota displayed a mix of internal combustion, hybrid-electric, and battery-electric vehicles, including the New Land Cruiser HEV.
Chinese automakers also expanded their electrified offerings.

Jetour showcased several plug-in hybrid SUVs equipped with its Lightning i-DM technology, while Chery highlighted its Tiggo plug-in hybrid and previewed the QEV Smart EV Cruiser. BAIC presented hybrid and range-extended electric vehicle models.
Kia previewed the EV3 and PV5 alongside its hybrid lineup, while Omoda and Jaecoo displayed a range of hybrid and electric vehicles, including the J5 EV, J7 PHEV, J8 PHEV, and EJ6 EV.

Commercial electric vehicles were also prominently featured. Foton showcased an all-electric lineup that included vans, light commercial vehicles, a tractor head, and a fully electric bus.
VinFast displayed several electric vehicle models and launched its RentaPasada program, which offers access to EVs through rental arrangements and income opportunities via the Green GSM platform.
Subaru launched the Crosstrek e-Boxer Hybrid and showcased the Forester e-Boxer Hybrid, while Honda previewed its e:HEV lineup and electrified motorcycles.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Department of Energy Energy Utilization and Management Bureau Director Patrick Aquino said the mobility sector is moving “toward innovation, greater efficiency, and smarter approaches to meeting the country’s growing transportation needs.”
CAMPI president Jing Atienza said the show demonstrates how the industry is responding to changing consumer and mobility needs.
“Through collaboration and shared progress, the 10th PIMS showcases how the industry continues to push boundaries while shaping a future that is inclusive and responsive to the needs of Filipinos,” Atienza said.
The 10th Philippine International Motor Show runs until June 7 in Pasay City.
