Chinese tech firm Xiaomi has unveiled the SkyNomad, a new sport utility vehicle series featuring a reconfigurable cabin designed for commuting, family travel, and use as a mobile workspace.
The SkyNomad is the second product series under the Xiaomi EV brand, joining the SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV. While the two earlier models were developed primarily around the driving experience, the new series places greater emphasis on cabin space and flexibility.
Built on Xiaomi’s new Kunlun architecture, the SkyNomad has a flat floor and a long-track seating system that allows occupants to rearrange the interior for different uses.
Xiaomi said the cabin can accommodate passengers, luggage, and pets while driving, and can be converted into a workspace, lounge, or family activity area when parked.
The vehicle also integrates artificial intelligence and Xiaomi’s connected-device ecosystem, although the company did not disclose specific AI functions or compatible devices.
“Our answer was to let intelligence define the space, to build a living interior that moves with you,” Xiaomi founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun wrote in a post on Weibo describing the vehicle’s development.
Xiaomi said development of the SkyNomad began in early 2023. The vehicle is aimed at buyers looking for a single car that can handle daily commuting, family trips, and occasional work while parked.
The SkyNomad will initially be launched in mainland China. Xiaomi has yet to announce its launch date, pricing, powertrain specifications, battery range, or availability in other markets.
